Rear View
External Courtyard - opening out from the rear of
CJ Hendry's workshop. The excavated ground level allows more
light and natural ventilation into the space. This space was
inspired by the word GROW, in which the bottom level
organically leads to the upper levels as if sprouting out
of the ground.
Ground Level Exhibition Space - opening out to a grassed public space.
The second staircase can be seen in the background.
An example of CJ Hendry's work can be seen displayed
in the exhibition space.
Crystalline Roof Structure - allows natural light to penetrate throughout all levels of the building through the strategically located glass paneling. This triangular design was inspired by the word CRUMPLE.
Right Side Elevation - The angular topography of the site
was also inspired by the word CRUMPLE.
Internal Exhibition Space - showcasing the artist
works of both Gucci and CJ Hendry. Both sets of stairs can also
be seen in this space, along with an angular glass balustrade.
A custom texture has been applied to the far wall to reflect
the word DELICATE. Examples of both Gucci and CJ Hendry's work can be seen displayed in the exhibition space.
Left Side Elevation
Stairs leading from Gucci's workshop to the exhibition space above.
The triangular design of these stairs was informed by the
crystalline roof structure and by a desire to allow light to travel
throughout the building. A custom texture has been applied to the far wall on the right to reflect the word SMUDGED.
